Episode 005
In this week's episode we spoke with Niigaan Sinclair, a professor in the native studies department here at the University of Manitoba in regards to a recent lecture hosted by the extended education division on the topic of social justice in education. Milena Pirnat, chair of the education committee of the Manitoba chapter of the Canadian Hemophilia Society and a University of Manitoba graduate, discussed her work in the field of hemophilia research and support. She also talked about her online support group, Hemophiliac Mother. Finally, we spoke with head coach of the Bison's football team, Brian Dobie, to give his thoughts post-game after a tough 38-34 OT loss against the UBC Thunderbirds. We close the show with a new track from Royal Canoe titled, "Peep This". It is off their new album, Waver, set for release on January 25, 2019. Read more ›

Episode 004
This week's episode features interviews from OpenFest co-organizer Anders Swanson and a couple members from Winnipeg band and OpenFest headliner Royal Canoe, where they gave their reasons why they believe the Portage and Main intersection should be open. We also had a lengthy and interesting discussion with Kim Tallbear, associate professor in the department of native studies at the University of Alberta and a leading expert on the use of DNA testing within First Nation communities, as well as one member of the roundtable current affairs podcast, Media Indigena. It is, of course, still sustainability month, and we had a chance to speak to another person, Chantal Delaquis, one of the directors of sustainability on the Arts Student Body Council, who helped kicked off the Arts composting program on October 15. Finally, we spoke to UMFM station manager, Jared McKetiak, to talk about Pledge-o-Rama. Read more ›

Episode 003
This week's episode features interviews from U of M Spokesperson John Danakas in regards to the university's policy about cannabis use, given the upcoming legalization of cannabis in Canada. We also have audio from the Make Poverty History Manitoba rally that occured on Oct. 11, 2018, with interviews from Manitoba NDP leader Wab Kinew and UMSU president Jakob Sanderson. October is sustainability month, and we had a chance to talk to Christie Nairn from the office of sustainability here at the University of Manitoba, as well as two U of M students involved with sustainability projects on campus through the office of sustainability. Finally, we spoke with an editor from the Feminist and Queer Review, Adriana King, and head of the women's and gender studies program at the University of Manitoba, Shawna Ferris. The Feminist and Queer Collective had their launch party celebrating the 10th anniversary edition of their FAQ review. Read more ›

Episode 002
This week's episode brings three stories. The first one is with Dr. Mariette Chartier, a research scientist at the Manitoba Centre for Health Policy who was the lead author on a recent report that was published titled, "Mental Illness among adult Manitobans". She spoke about the report, as well as mental health and university students. The second interview is with disability advocate David Lepofsky. A lawyer by trade, he had recently finished a talk hosted by Barrier-free Manitoba, and briefly discussed his cause. The final interviews were with Louise Leatherdale and Stephen Borys. Mrs. Leatherdale, along with her late husband Doug, made a donation of $1 million to the Inuit Art Centre being built in the Winnipeg Art Gallery. She discussed the inspiration from her donation, and Stephen Borys, director and CEO of the Winnipeg Art Gallery, discussed the impact that her donation will have for the future.
