The Long Haul

Season 1, Episode 4: Adam Smith, Part Two

Get comfy and listen to the remarkable 2 months of racing by 17-year-old semi-pro cyclist Adam Smith. His 2024 season included a mix of disappointment and a new jersey at the Nationals road race in Quebec.  This performance and a few strategic emails landed Adam, a graduate of Manitoba's Kids of Mud program, in Europe for a dramatic stage race and eventually the pinnacle of cycling for any junior racer.

This is part two of an excellent conversation with this phenomenal athlete, be sure to check out part one as well wherewe discuss his first year living, training, and racing as a neo-pro in Europe.

  • Adam Smith

Adam Smith is a Canadian road cyclist quickly rising through the U23 European ranks. His love for cycling began early—riding endlessly up and down his street and racing his twin brother—before entering Kids of Steel triathlons at age six. Realizing the bike leg was never long enough, he shifted to cycling full-time through the Alter Ego Kids of Mud club and later joined the Cycling Manitoba Development Team, where he discovered road racing and team competition.

Adam went on to represent Manitoba at the 2022 Canada Summer Games and Canada at the 2024 UCI Road World Championships in Zurich, alongside racing his first European events with PNW Racing.

In 2025, he joined CC Étupes, one of France’s leading U23 development teams, and has already signed with AVC Aix Provence Dole, a UCI Continental team, for 2026—marking his next step toward the professional ranks.

A strong all-around rider with notable time-trial ability, Adam’s key results include:

2024 Canadian Junior Men’s Criterium Champion

2nd, Canadian Junior Time Trial Championships

    6th, Canadian U23 ITT (2025)

as well as breakthrough international performances at Tour de Leman, Grand Prix West Bohemia, Ronde de l’Isard, and Il Piccolo Lombardia

Driven, disciplined, and passionate, Adam continues to establish himself as one of Canada’s most exciting young cyclists. Follow his journey on Instagram at @adamcbsmith.
