Episode 3: Design and Redesign - The Iterative Process
Episode 3: Design and Redesign - The Iterative Process is a discussion on the importance of taking a design idea and creating multiple iterations to review and revise to develop a design solution. Whether you are a student, professor or practitioner, it is vital to have iterations to improve on and make progress towards a final, tangible design.
This podcast episode explores the importance of the iterative process. Iterations consists of repeating an existing idea to develop a different version based on perspectives, research, analysis and understanding to refine an idea. This is the basis of design development because it improves on an idea and defines the progress made towards the solution.
Design and Redesign is important because change is necessary to design. The first iteration created is almost never the final iteration submitted. As designers, our research or perspective changes or broadens, the design parameters might change and our design evolves. This episode explores how the different approaches and perspectives to the design and redesign process.
