Let's Talk About...
June 8, 2021: A conversation about letting go: Changing you relationship with the labels on your life
Change is difficult. It feels scary, confusing, and unnatural. Especially when it concerns a major part of who you are. As silly as it sounds, just like when people retire, or get divorced, or in Jason’s case, step away from the sport they love, Canadians are currently reckoning with their lives as Canadians. With the discovery of 215 children buried on the grounds of a Kamloops residential school, the tearing down of statues of Egerton Ryerson and John A. Macdonald, and the recent attack on a Muslim family in London, Ont. it is becoming painfully obvious to many average Canadians that our country, and our history, is dark, is tainted, and has impacts that reach into the modern day.
But what can be saved? Is Canada evil? Are Canadians wrong? Do we need to destroy this country because it was built on shaky and stolen foundation? No says Jason, we just need to change our relationship with it. One Canadian at a time. That’s what this rant-heavy episode of LTA is all about.
