This week we commemorate the 50th Anniversary of the Watts Rebellion of 1965 with Pacifica coverage of the events as they unfolded. And we have an interview with Anthony Marshall, co-founder of New York based Lyricist Lounge who will be producing together with Grand Performances and The Pacifica Radio Archives the Grand Performances Aftershock Watts50 event in Los Angeles on Friday July 10 2015 at 7:30pm.

And now we present some of Pacifica Radio’s live coverage of The Watts Rebellion August 11 – 17th 1965. This will include actuality from events in the streets, Community leaders, Educators, residents, aid workers, police, radio commentaries and listener call ins. These clips were assembled into a program called The Fire This Time and is one of several programs on this event preserved in the Pacifica Radio Archives.
