The 1979 Nation­al March on Wash­ing­ton for Les­bian and Gay Rights was an impor­tant moment for the LGBTQ Com­mu­ni­ties. Tens of Thou­sands Marched on Wash­ing­ton Chant­i­ng WE ARE EVERY­WHERE..!!” On Octo­ber 14 1979 Paci­fi­ca Radio record­ed 4 hours live from the March and pro­vid­ed an entire day of LGBT pro­gram­ming that fea­tured seg­ments about Gays Les­bians Trans­gen­dered, immi­gra­tion, racism in the gay com­mu­ni­ty; homo­pho­bia and vio­lence against gays. there was also time to cel­e­brate with music, poet­ry and speech­es from Hol­ly Near, Meg Chris­t­ian, Audre Lourde, Allen Gins­berg, Ray Hill, Flo Kennedy, Les­bian Moth­ers, Gay Fathers and straight allys.
