Tiokasin’s guest during this special repeat edition is Tracey Osborne. Tracey is Associate Professor in the School of Geography and Development at the University of Arizona. Her research focuses on the political ecology of climate change mitigation in tropical forests, particularly the role of Indigenous peoples, and questions of climate justice. Tracey founded and directs the Climate Alliance Mapping Project, a collaborative effort between academics, environmental NGOs, and Indigenous organizations working for a socially-just response to climate change through research, maps and digital stories.
In the second portion of the show, we include a pre-recorded audio segment featuring five Indigenous women’s personal stories of struggle, which were relayed at the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights in Jamaica in May 2019.
