In the first half-hour, Andrew Miller brings two decades of human rights activism and inter­na­tion­al field expe­ri­ence to his work as Ama­zon Watch’s Wash­ing­ton, D.C. Advo­ca­cy Direc­tor. Since 2007, Andrew has col­lab­o­rat­ed close­ly with Indige­nous part­ners from Brazil, Colom­bia, Ecuador and Peru, facil­i­tat­ing rights-based advo­ca­cy at Wash­ing­ton DC-based insti­tu­tions such as the mul­ti­lat­er­al banks, U.S. exec­u­tive offices, and the Inter-Amer­i­can Com­mis­sion on Human Rights. He has also sup­port­ed Indige­nous-led cam­paigns to expel inter­na­tion­al oil com­pa­nies such as Tal­is­man Ener­gy and GeoP­ark from Ama­zon­ian Indige­nous territories.For more infor­ma­tion, vis­it www​.ama​zon​watch​.org.

In the sec­ond half-hour, we fea­ture musi­cian Ed Kabotie. Ed is a mul­ti­fac­eted cre­ative from the Hopi vil­lage of Shun­gopavi and the Tewa vil­lage of Khap’o Owinge. His expres­sions take the forms of illus­tra­tions, tra­di­tion­al over­lay jew­el­ry and mul­ti-instru­men­tal, mul­ti-lin­gual music. His pro­fes­sion­al mis­sion is to car­ry the mes­sage of the plight of the indige­nous peo­ple and lands of the Col­orado Plateau to con­scious minds through­out the world.
