Host Tiokasin Ghosthorse welcomes Alison McDowell in the first half-hour. Alison is a mother and independent researcher based in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. She blogs about the intersection of race, finance and technology at wrenchinthegears.com. Tiokasin talks with Alison about her recent blog, “Timpsila, Medicine for Tech-No-Logic.” Read her blog here: https://wrenchinthegears.com/2020/08/07/timpsila-medicine-for-tech-no-logic/.
In the second half, Tiokasin welcomes back Manuel Rozental. Manuel is a long-time Colombian activist, researcher and community organizer. Hes been involved with grassroots political organizing with youth, Indigenous communities, and urban and rural social movements for four decades. Manuel joins “First Voices Radio” to bring us an update on what’s happening in Colombia in South America. There continues to be an alarming increase in the number of Indigenous people being murdered in that country. Manuel brings us the latest news, his observances and analysis of the ongoing and constantly evolving situation with reports of Indigenous people (including children) being tortured and murdered daily, a situation that Manuel says is “worse and worsening.”
