In this repeat edi­tion of First Voic­es Radio we intro­duce lis­ten­ers to Ernes­tine Hayes, Alas­ka State Writer Lau­re­ate. Ernes­tine, Kaag­waan­taan clan of the Eagle side of the Lin­git (Tlin­git) Nation, is the author of Blonde Indi­an” and many oth­er works, includ­ing, The Tao of Raven: An Alas­ka Native Mem­oir.” Ernes­tine has a mas­ter of fine arts degree in cre­ative writ­ing and lit­er­ary arts and is an asso­ciate pro­fes­sor of Eng­lish and writ­ing at the Uni­ver­si­ty of Alas­ka South­east. Ernestine’s pre­sen­ta­tion took place on June 2, 2017, in Port­land, Ore­gon, dur­ing a Native Arts and Cul­tures Foun­da­tion Con­ven­ing of 2016 Nation­al Artist Fel­lows.
