Fascinatin' Rhythm

Nat King Cole was born 100 years ago on March 17, 1919; and sadly passed at the early age of 46 on February 15, 1965 or lung cancer, due to a chronic smoking habit. He set the standard for the tio format; and certainly paved the way for the Oscar Peterson, Brad Mehldau, Art Tatum, Diana Krall, and so many others. He was not oanly a gifted pianist, but amarvelous singer and composer, actor, and tv host (first black man to host his own show). Some of his songs like Straighten Out & Fly Right’ have become standards. Some of the finest tribute albums to him have come from the likes of Diana Krall, John Pizzarelli, Ike and Freddy Cole, Natalie Cole, Marvin Gaye, Oscar Moore, Mark Murphy, Carmen McRae, Earl Grant, Allan Harris, Gregory Porter, Densil Sinclaire/Bill Coon, George Shearing, and Oscar Peterson Trio
