Doctor Renewable
May 12, 2023: 006 - Dr. Danny Blair from the University of Winnipeg discusses the Climate Atlas of Canada. This online atlas can be used to visualize the impact of climate change in any year till 2100 in Canada.
Many scientists publish climate change models and make the data available to the public. These models range in complexity and their outcomes depends on policy scenarios investigated. The Climate Atlas of Canada accesses the data and through their website allows users to display the impact in any region in Canada due to climate change. Dr. Danny Blair explains how climate models work and how the results help to better understand the risks we are all taking by delaying our transition to a renewable energy world. From how many days above 34 degrees Celsius farmers will experience which will affect their crops, to changes in rain patterns, the atlas shows what will happen based on climate model predictions. It makes it real. The atlas is available at https://climateatlas.ca/
