Doctor Renewable

Eric discusses why Europe is so far ahead in terms of the energy transition. Canada is stuck at 19% renewables for the last 3 decades and does not want to ditch the net-zero benchmark so it can promote using fossil fuels to fix fossil fuels to create more market for fossil fuels during the climate crisis. However, Europe is moving ahead with the renewable energy benchmark. It is now common in Europe to not use the net-zero benchmark and talk of the percentage of renewable benchmark, demonstrating a much better mastery of how to address the energy transition. Europe is having discussion that since they are achieving their targets for 2030, why not move the goal post to 45% renewables. Such discussion is beyond the reach of Canada as we try to decrease energy efficiency with hydrogen for vehicles and carbon capture to expand fossil fuel demand. Robert is excited about a new wind mill technology being presented in an article. Eric goes through the article highlighting certain aspects which makes the products not appear as rosy as Robert thinks it is showing there is work ahead for this company to achieve commercialization.
