This week we jump into the wayback machine and venture all the way to 1981-82 to check in with your Winnipeg Jets! It was the season everything started to come together. The squad made their first NHL playoff appearance, finished the regular season at .500, and, most importantly, an 18-year-old kid named Dale Hawerchuk arrived in Winnipeg and immediately started rewriting the record book.

Ducky’s rookie season was one for the ages. He put up 103 points, becoming the first Jet to crack the 100-point mark and setting the NHL record for most points by an 18-year-old — a record that still stands. And he wasn’t doing it alone. The early pieces of the Jets 1.0 core were starting to take shape, with players like Thomas Steen, Morris Lukowich, Paul MacLean, Dave Babych, Doug Smail, Tim Watters and co-host Tom's favourite, Scott Arniel, helping turn Winnipeg into a team that was about to become a whole lot of fun, forming one the most exciting squads in the NHL during the 1980s.

Then we fast forward about 44 years to the current Jets, who are off to a 1-0-1 start. There's a new sheriff in town, and Tyrell Bauer is quickly becoming a fan favourite, but does he have enough staying power to survive once silly Salo returns from injury.

Speaking of Ducks, we’ll also check in on Anaheim who are off to a solid start after a tumultuous offseason. Plus, are the Panthers are becoming THAT team, we tip our hats to the great 8 as he prepares for his season-long twirl around the ice, pay tribute to a Sasky hockey legend, dig into the Stat Line of the Week, and try out our brand-new blind rankings game.
 

And apparently, once wasn’t enough.

Talkin’ Hockey is back to kick off Season 9 with another trip to Anaheim — except this time, they’re just the Ducks. 2006-07 was the first season they dropped the “Mighty,” and it turned out to be a pretty good year to rebrand: 110 points, first in the Pacific, and just five playoff losses on the way to the Stanley Cup.

We’ve got the Kid Line of Perry, Getzlaf and Penner, Ol' Kitty Carlyle behind the bench, Scotty Niedermayer wearing the C, and Jiggy and Bryzzy between the pipes. And then there’s Teemu Selänne, who at 36 led the team with 82 points and finally got to sip from Lord Stanley.

We'll shift gears and talk the 2026/27 season - lots of new players wearing the C for the squads, while 4 teams still go without.  Some Jets chatter about the new 'tendy in town, and we'll talk about a massive Buds/Jackets trade that went down just before the show went to air.

Finally, we'll do some rapid fire predictions and give you our hot takes on award winners for the upcoming year!

And yes, we know that we already talked about the Ducks, and no, we’re not sorry...

So here's the thing, we're on hiatus.  We're enjoying the dog days and waiting for the kids to go back to school.  And then the #1 (?!?) goalie in the world requests a trade from the hometown squad and like Voltron we form and talk a little hockey!

So back in June, the 15th to be precise, some of our esteemed Jet's roundtable called this.  At that point it was clear that a divorce between Connor Hellebuyck and the Winnipeg Jets was at a when, not if situation. We talk about our feelings, and we'll about the hockey side of it, the business side of it, and the very real possibility that the Jets are suddenly facing one of the biggest decisions in recent franchise history. There’s plenty of speculation, plenty of questions, and — because this is Winnipeg hockey — probably a healthy amount of panic.

What happens if he sits out?  Who are our best trade prospects?  Why aren't we calling the shots by now?

It's all here kids, sometimes an emergency pod is what's needed - and we all know that bonus hockey is the best hockey!

Well folks, Season 8 is officially in the books! We put in a little time at the office to bring you episode 40 and put a bow on another great season - once hockey returns in the fall, we'll be back for Season 9. You can set your watch to that.

Our Team of the Week is the 1993-94 New York Rangers, who finally ended a 54-year Stanley Cup drought with an epic seven-game Final against the Vancouver Canucks. Messier, Leetch, Richter, Graves and the Russian Foursome all got their names on the Cup as the Rangers finally brought Lord Stanley back to Broadway and the bleacher creatures at MSG!

We also gripe about the state of hockey media in the year of our lord 2026. More games behind more subscriptions, more stations disappearing, familiar voices getting the boot, and, for the first time ever, Hockey Night in Canada not airing on CBC. Canada's game is being bought and sold, and the fans are paying the price.

And finally, after a season-long battle, the Vintage Wax Pack Attack has a champion! Tune in to hear how it all went down.

This week we're staying close to home and looking back at the 1992-93 Winnipeg Jets. Teemu Selanne's unforgettable rookie season was truly one for the ages as the Finnish Flash lit the league on fire with 76 goals and rewrote the record book. Unfortunately, the rest of the roster . . . wasn't quite as electric. We dig into a team with plenty of scoring, not much defence, some suspect goaltending, and draft that will leave you scratching yer noggin'.

In the second period, we catch up on the latest NHL news, including Patrick Kane heading back to Chicago and Ryan Getzlaf making his coaching debut behind Canada's World Junior bench, plus we talk about some legendary villains on the ice!

And finally, it's time for the finale of our season long hockey card odyssey - we bring you the O-Pee-Chee Six Wax Pack Attack!  That's right six packs apiece to assemble the final roster before we seed our squads and start our tourney!

This week we head to Hockeytown to take a look at the 2007-08 Detroit Red Wings, a team that may have been the last great dynasty of the salary cap era. With Lidstrom, Datsyuk, Zetterberg, Holmstrom, Rafalski, Kronwall, Franzen, Cleary and Osgood, plus the sage leadership of Chelios, Hasek, Draper and Maltby - the Wings sipped from Lord Stanley once again, defeating a young Sid The Kid!

Next, we ask why Stevie Y, why?  The Red Wings legend stepped away as Red Wings GM seemingly out of the blue and we wonder why now, and what's next? We also get into Cole Perfetti's new deal, a bunch of other RFA signings, debate the rise of the NHL schedule reveal, and congratulate Uncle Fester on landing in Montreal as an assistant coach.

In the third, we answer a great question from listener Justin in Nanaimo, and rip into the final Parkhurst Pack Attack - plus we talk Wax Pack Tournament plans, which all goes down next week!

After a week away, the boys are back at it this week and we start off by diving in with a great team of the week - the 2010-11 Vancouver Canucks! They won the Presidents' Trophy in a landslide, had a prolific set of twins operating at their peak Sedinery, and they seemed destined to end Canada's Stanley Cup drought. From Bobby Lu between the pipes to a great young collection of players including Kesler, Burrows and Bieksa, this team had everything . . . except the final win, which the Boston Bruins took in a riotus affair.

In the second period, it's all Jets baby as we break down the local squads offseason moves so far. Swedish Chef Viggo is confirmed to be cooking in North America this season, while Stuuuuuuu brings a great 'stache and some stability between the pipes. Plus, Mario Ferraro is finally a Jet, and our blue line is shaping up nicely! We ask what Chevy has left to do before training camp opens - and is a Helle big trade on the horizon?

Then we Offer Sheet Madness! Sure, the Ducks and Mammoth matched on their young stars, but did Philly and the Devils just make offer sheets cool again?  We tried to get Brian Burke on the phone, but he's still out punching walls...

Hey ho, the ol' Hockey Talkin' Show is back, as the boys start to wind things down and think about takin' a summer break!  But fear not dear listener, are plans ain't solid yet - plus the off-season is in full effect and we've gotta talk draft, trades, free agency and of course another beauty of a retro team!

Without further adieu, we're talkin' 1980-81 Los Angeles Kings, all bespoke in their majestic purple and gold uniforms!  Led by the Triple Crown line of Marcel Dionne, Dave Taylor and Charlie Simmer, these guys put up goals in bunches!  In fact, this terrific trio was the first in NHL history to record three 100 point seasons by a set of teammates!  With youngsters Jimmy Fox and Larry Murphy in the mix, the squad finished fourth overall in the regular season, before falling to the Rangers in four in the first round.

Then, the silly season continues with a whole whack of trades leading up to the draft! Names like Tuch, Kyrou, Byrum, Nemec, Eklund, McTavish, Carlo and Carlson have all found new homes, as picks are swapped and teams jockey for position before July 1. Plus we recap the draft, highlight a few surprises and officially welcome Viggo Björck to the fold - all hail the Swedish Chef!

All this and three absolute bangers for music this week - plus a special shout out to birthday girl Leah!

Last week our crack panel of experts fixed your Winnipeg Jets, even though it may have taken three hours!  This week, we're back to tell you about the 2005-06 Carolina Hurricanes, the last Raleigh team to win the cup before this year's edition. With captain Rod "The Bod" Brind'Amour leading the way, a young Eric Staal breaking out, and rookie Cam Ward catching fire at exactly the right time, the Canes went from playoff outsiders to Stanley Cup champs in just one year. 

Then we dive into the start of NHL Silly Season  and catch you up on all of the trades to date, plus coaching changes, and the newly announced Hall of Fame class. Plus, after a brief hiatus, the Stat Line Of The Week is back!

Finally, we wrap things up with some talk about this Friday's draft, looking at a few Manitobans hoping to hear their names called.  Plus gather 'round as co-host Tom shares the story of Helmuts Balderis, who became the oldest player ever drafted at nearly 37 years old.

The Parkhurst Pack Attack is back, and we try to figure out if Home For A Rest should be Canada's answer to all those sports sing-along-songs.

Now that the 'Canes (and our ol' pal Nikolaj) have raised Lord Stanley, it's time to get down to business - we've gotta fix the local hockey squad.  On this super-sized episode, all the rules go out the window.  We'll perform the autopsy on the 2025-26 season, we'll play armchair GM and we'll tell you all about the trades and draft picks that we'd make along the way!  

Big thanks to our expert panel of local hockey aficionados - Dregs, Jacko and the Grewj - this was a fun one, so dive in and let's fix those Jets!

The cup finals are finally upon us, and the pod is heatin' up with the squad that won it all 20 years ago - the Colorado Avalanche!  We talked about the team they beat back in episode 27, but these Av's were a team built for the post season!  In the first year post-Quebec, the boasted a vet heavy lineup led by Burnaby Joe, who was joined by Forsberg, Ricci, Leschyshyn, Foote, Kamensky and bolstered by the in-season acquisitions of Patrick Roy, Sandis Ozolinsh and playoff beast Claude Lemieux, this team clobbered the Red Wings in the semis and then swept the Panthers in the finals.

Speaking of, we pour one out for Claude Lemieux who passed this week tragically - our thoughts go out to his family, friends and the fans he made along the way.

Then we do a quick post-mortem for the Habs and this years Avs before talking finals and which team we might hate less.

The Parkhurst Pack Attack is back and we've got some great music for ya too! 

It goes with out saying, but the 1978-79 Rangers might have been one of the best hangs of all time!  Whether they were cuttin' ads for fine European denim or makin' disco records with funny man Alan Thicke, Espo and the boys got the job done on AND off the ice!  Despite his initial reluctance to the move, big 77 showed he could still put the puck in the net on Broadway, and he was joined by the dynamic Swedish duo of Anders and Ulf, plus the standout mullet of Ron Duguay and with solid play by JD between the pipes, they went all the way to the finals before falling in five to the wagon Habs.

In the second, we're talkin' playoffs, were the Avs seem to have lost their mojo and the Canes-Habs looks like it might go the distance.

In the third, we try and figure out the IIHF website and tease our big Jets round table which is coming together as we speak!

On Talkin' Hockey, we're all about the long weekends, and so of course we're here today, albeit in pre-recorded form!  We've talked about both the opponents that they faced in the finals during their back to back Cup runs, so today we're talkin' Penguins!  The 1991-92 squad had a bit of a roller coaster season before settling in to take Lord Stanley for the second straight year.  Their coach, the legendary "Badger" Bob Johnson had to step down in the off-season when he was diagnosed with cancer, and sadly he passed away in November of 1991.  The team was sold, also in November, to a couple of fellas from the Minnesota North Stars ownership group that they had vanquished the year before - a guess if you can't beat 'em, you buy 'em!  On the ice, it was the usual cast of characters - Lemieux, Stevens, Francis, Jagr, and Mullen, plus steady Tom Barrasso between the pipes and a blue line featuring Paul Coffey and newcomer Larry Murphy.  Ol' Paul got shipped out in February shakeup alongside Mark Recchi that steadied the squad, adding toughness with Rick Tocchet and Kjell Samuelsson coming in.  They finished strong and blew through the playoffs, sweeping the Blackhawks in the finals.

Speaking of playoffs, we'll catch you up on the current goings on as 3 of our 4 semi-finalists are set, with a big game 7 between Montreal and Buffalo set to go as we exit the airwaves today.  Colorado and Vegas carry on the proud Jagr tradition this year, as both Brett Kulak and Rasmus Andersson played with the mulleted magician meaning that this is year marks the 46th (!!!) straight that the finals will feature a former teammate of ol' #68.

Finally, co-host Tom slips into Mats Sundin's silky Swedish slacks and we break down the myriad of questions facing the Maple Leafs this off season.

After a week to rest and recuperate after a stellar Pledge-O-Rama show, the boys are back and we're talkin' Buds baby!  Maybe the last great Leaf's team - the 1993-94 edition that featured a real cast of characters lead by leading scorers Doug Gilmour, Dave Andreychuk and Captain Wendel Clark, plus mid-season pickup Mike Gartner and Dave Ellett and Jamie MacCoun on the blue line!  The Cat, Felix Potvin was one of the league's best tendys that year and helped carry the squad to the conference finals vs. the Canucks where they fell in 5.

We're also talkin' present day Leafs, who had a busy week - hiring a new GM and head of Hockey Ops, which turned into a bit of a clown show, before some how securing the top spot and the right to take Gavin McKenna!  Plus, your Winnipeg Jets pick 8th - will they keep the pick, package it for top 6 help, or draft another euroleague superstar who will overstay his welcome down on the farm!

Finally, we've got a World Cup of hockey update and another edition of the ol' Parkhurst pack attack!

In period 2, we're joined by great local band We're Here For The Snacks to talk about making their debut record, which Winnipeg band would make the best hockey team, and then they do a special edition of what else .... snacks!

Finally we do a quick round the league to discuss team's first playoff games, plus what's up with Helly's comments - we appreciate the passion, but it's time to put up or shut up #37!

First up we'll tell you all about the Florida Panthers, '95-'96 edition, who reached the cup final in only their 3rd season in the league!  Lead by the Beezer between the pipes and Scott Mellanby's mullet up front, plus JovoCop in his rookie season, these Cats ran through the Eastern Conference taking out the Bruins, the Flyers and the Penguins before getting swept in the finals by the newly located Colorado Avalanche!

In the second, we're joined by bass playin' hockey aficionado Ryan Gullen from The Sheepdogs, who are in town this week to play two shows - a sold out small club gig on Thursday, and then at the Burt on Friday!  Limited tickets are available for that second show, so be sure to get your mitts on 'em fast!

Finally in the third, we're talkin' playoffs - who's in and who's out, as we pour one out for the Jets season.  We're saying that there might be a chance, but let's be honest, there's not really much of a chance.  Plus we've got a Hab Trick of stat lines!  

Comin' in hot with a 1/2 priced Easter candy hangover, it's time to give a little praise for your favourite co-hosts, cuz once again they've risen to the task!  It's Season 8, episode 26 and we're going tell you all about the '97-'98 Caps!  Lead by the dynamic scoring duo of Special Agent Peter Bondra and supreme set up man Adam Oates, this squad reached the franchise's first Stanley Cup final before getting broomed by the Winged Wheel from Detroit, which was kinda the style at the time.  Olie The Goalie stood tall between the pipes and  they had three (!!!) fellas eclipse 1000 points for their careers (Oates, Phil Housley and Dale Hunter) a record that still stands.

In period two, we talk about the shocking, and not so shocking, firings in the NHL - Brad Treliving gets the boot as the Leafs GM and Patrick Roy gets shown the gate on Long Island with only 4 games remaining, as the Isles turn to Pete DeBoer to turn the team's fortunes.  We break down a whole whack of playoff scenarios as the pretenders and the contenders come into sharper focus by the day, plus we pour one out for the Panthers as they prepare to hit the golf course 2 1/2 months earlier than anticipated! And, we've got two great stat lines for you this week as Sid the Kid ascends to proper status on the side of the mountain.

Finally in period three, we tell you how to get into our official playoff pool (here's a hint - email us!), plus we talk Spring hockey, Lake of the Woods, and wrap our Upper Deck pack attack with our first ever trade! 

Spring (Leagues) have sprung and the boys are back at it with another action packed episode - today we're highlighting the 1999-00 New Jersey Devils.  Though they didn't sport co-host Jared's favourite red, green and white uni variation, the pride of the Garden State hoisted the cup for the second time in the decade, once again backed by all time stellar 'tendy Marty Brodeur!  A balanced attack featuring Elias, Arnott, Holik, Sykora and rookie of the year winner Scotty Gomez, with Captain Crunch Scott Stevens patrolling the blue line alongside Scott Neidermayer, Brian Rafalski and Ken Daneyko - they topped the Stars 4-2 in the finals and the rest as they say is history!

Oddly enough those Devils went on a run following a coaching change with 8 games remaining (Ftorek out, Big Bird in) and the news of the day comes from Vegas where the Knights replaced Bruce Cassidy with our ol' pal Johnny Tortilla with . . . 8 games remaining.  Spooky stuff kids!  Plus we talk about playoff races tightening up and do a double dip into the ol' listener email bag!

Oh baby for sure, for sure!  We're back and this week we're talkin' Tampa, as in the 2003-04 Cup winning Lightning!  Lead by league leading scorer Martin St. Louis, a couple of beautiful baby Bolts in Vinny Lecavalier and Brad Richards, vets Dave Andreychuk, Cory Stillman and Freddie Modin - this deep squad was coached by salty ol' John Tortarella aka Johnnie Tortilla!  A solid D-corps and the 'Bulin wall between the pipes helped them breeze through the first two rounds before being taken the distance by the Flyers in the semis and the Flames in the finals.  Great team that paved the way for Tampa hockey culture to come!

In the second, we're talkin' PWHL takeover here at True North.  An action filled matchup between Montreal and Ottawa left the raucous crown happy and locals wondering if an expansion team might be on the horizon - something we'll discuss!  And then we've got a U Sports finals recap, featuring a long awaited Huskies vs. Huskies matchup!

Finally, we dip into the mailbag to hypothesize whether or not the Hawks can make a move for pending FA sniper Jason Robertson in the offseason - and of course, we've got week 4 of the Upper Deck pack attack!

Oh baby, we've got an action packed show for you tonight - it was a big weekend of big hockey action all over the map and we've mostly lived to tell the tales!

First off, we're talkin' the '91-'92 Chicago Blackhawks - fresh off a President's Cup winning season that ended in first round defeat, ol' Iron Mike Keenan decided his team needed a little more grit and shipped out a number of Hawks mainstays, including longtime blueline stalwart Doug Wilson, as well as as 7 or 8 others.  The new squad lead by young superstar Jeremy Roenick, as well as a solid D corps lead by Chris Chelios and Steve Smith and young superstar goalie tandem Eddie "The Eagle" Belfour and Dominik "The Dominator" Hasek ran through the Campbell Conference before falling to the Penguins in 4 straight.

Then in the second, it's all about what's to be done with big bag Radko Gudas who's ruining seasons across the league - first it was Sid the Kid, now it's Toronto Papi (though his season may have been done long ago!).  Who can stop this menace?  Doesn't seem like any of the other 'Buds are up to the challenge.  Then we shift our focus to the playoff races around the league that are heating up - are our own Winnipeg Jets gettin' hot at the right time?  How about the Sens and the Jackets - can they continue to hang on?

We'll talk about the big international announcement - the return of the World Cup of Hockey to be hosted in 1998 in Prague, Edmonton and Calgary.  Plus, co-host Tom has more Stat Lines than we know what to do with!

In the third, we salute the Juicii Sorrows, your 2025/26 Garage League Champions!  The took down Les Ales Awerchuks in a nailbiter this past Saturday night to hoist the cup!

Hey, episode 22 is here and it's time to get quackin'!  

We're talkin' the Anaheim Ducks, who were still mighty, but started to sorta take themselves seriously with this Cup winning team! Lead by the Bros Neidermeyer and big ol' Chris Pronger and a tidy 'tendy tandem of Giguere and Bryzgalov, this squad was far from fowl.  Upfront, they featured a balanced attack up front featuring Teemu and his bionic knee, plus future Sid-sideman Chris Kunitz and young ducklings Corey Perry and Ryan Getzlaf!  Plus, who the heck remembers Andy McDonald?!?  They capped off a heckuva year by dispatching the Sens in 5, winning their only cup to date.

In the second frame, we recap a busy trade deadline that saw some big names moved, with the Avs somehow coming out with a stronger squad, solidifying their Cup chances.  Plus, Chevy finally made a move, finally shipping out the Stanimal and Luke Schenn. We think it's the smart play, but we're certainly in the minority as the local hockey "experts" seem to think #64 should have been a Jet post-deadline.

We also take a look back at our pre-season predictions and see if we could actually see into the future, or if we were simply just wrong again.  All this plus an Upper Deck pack attack and a trio of great tunes!

First up, we're talkin' the final cup winner from Long Island, the 82-83 Islanders - this was the season where this juggernaut finally ran outta steam, but they still claimed their 4th cup in a row on the backs of Bossy and Butchie, Tonelli, Gilles, Potvin and Trottier, a coupla of young Sutter brothers and a heckuva tandem between the pipes - Battlin' Billy Smith and Rollie the Goalie!  The dispatched the young Oilers in four straight, who then went on a 4 cup run of their own!

We've got a great stat line of the week, featuring the new kid on the Island, tearin' it up as an 18 year old phenom and ready to lead the Isles back to  greatness!  We'll talk Jets post Olympics, they seem to like playing bonus hockey all the sudden, and then we do a deep dive in advance of Friday's trade deadline!

And in the third, we're talkin' GHL playoffs and ripping some sweet Upper Deck packs for our latest card battle - double 99's are a great start!

After surviving the early wake up call yesterday along with the rest of the nation, the boys are here to talk a little hockey and since we're hittin' the season halfway point more or less, we're throwing a curve ball and talkin' Team Canada, but this one's from the greatest (?!?) tourney ever played - the 1987 Canada Cup!  With names like Gretzky, Lemieux, Messier, Hawerchuk, Coffey, Murphy and Fuhr, the squad in red and white was a who's who of the best in Canada at the time.  We took on the world, and secured the cup in epic fashion, defeating the Soviet Union in game 3 of the best of 3 take all!  There's never going to be another one like it, so go watch these games wherever you can Sparky!

Then, we recap the double heartbreak from Italy, as both the Men's and Women's squads lose their quest for Olympic gold vs the USA - in overtime no less!  Should 3 on 3 play determine the winners on such a worldwide scale?  Could a 75% Sid helped the Canadian squad?  Who got the easy A's graded for their play?  And is it to early to look ahead to the French Alps in 2030?

After a week off, the boys are back at it on a holiday Monday feelin' rested, relaxed and ready to talk some hockey in this extended Riel Day episode!

We'll tell you about the 1971-72 Bruins, a squad the seemed to be on the cusp of a dynasty with 3 finals appearances and 2 titles. Lead by the likes of Espo, Orr, Bucyk, Sanderson, Stanfield, McKenzie, Cashman, Westfall and ol' stiched up Gerry Cheevers between the pipes, this team was a real wagon until the league caught up to them, and #4's career was cut short.  They wouldn't drink from Lord Stanley again until beating the Canucks in 2010-11!

In the second, we've all sorts of Olympic hockey to touch on as both the Canadian Men's and Women's teams chase gold in Italy. The men's squad has been very business like thus far, and seems primed for a finals appearance provided that the 'tendys hold up.  The women's team has certainly missed Marie Phillip-Poulin up front, but appear to be back on track for a golden matchup vs their rivals from the US.

In the third, we recap a great day for hockey at Apuckalypse, plus detail the final week of the GHL season which hits this week.  And co-host Jared talks about heading to Hali for an excellent donair and some Moosehead's action!

After an action packed weekend full of all sorts of hockey goodness, your favourite co-hosts are talkin' teal as we dive into all sorts of expansion goodness with the 1991-92 San Jose Sharks!  While they may have been fashionable on the ice in those great looking uni's, this rag tag team full of castoffs stunk out the old Cow Palace (no small feat!!) by only winning 17 games all season - with only 3 victories coming on the road!  Lead by the pride of Foxwarren, Patty Falloon and not much else, this squad was all Shark and no bite!

In the second, we've got a whole plethora of topics to cover including Tanglin' 'Tendys, Trotzy shufflin' into the sunset and a cool statline.  Plus we'll tell you about our favourite all time goal celebrations - past and present!

In the third, we'll tell you about an action-packed Garage League weekend, which included a huge comeback win for the Stouts - plus we recap an amazing skate at Canada Life on Sunday night!

It's Co-Host Tom's Birthday and we're here to tell you all about the 2016-17 Colorado Avalanche!

Though some of the names are sure familiar, this squad ain't the juggernaut that you're used too - they finished at the bottom of the Central and in the basement for the Western Conference with one of the worst seasons in recent history!  Sure, they were led by Nasty Nate, Captain Gabe and Mikko the Moose, but their 48 points led them to their lottery where they lost again - but somehow they still got the grand prize - Cale Makar with the 4th pick overall in 2017/18!  Rookie coach Jared Bednar arrived in a rush at the beginning of the season, replacing a hot-headed legend behind the bench, and he hasn't missed a post-season since!

Then we talk Jet's - they just got dusted by the Wings, and the Coach and the GM are talkin' about the uphill battle, but it seems like it might just be time to pack it in!  Plus, the birthday boy slides into Chevy's slacks to decided whether or not the Stanimal should be shipped out of town! Also, what in the name of Bobby Baun is going on in the big smoke?  Wee Willy may have finally flipped, but Cappy Pappy doesn't have a thing to say! 

Finally, we talk a frozen 4 x 4 at down at the club, catch up on some viral GHL action and add player four to our respective Pro-Set squads! 

Holy smokes do we have a jam packed show for you today or what!

First up, we're talkin' about the 1992-93 Los Angeles Kings - ol' Wayne and the boys looked pretty boss in the silver and black and their play on the ice backed it up.  Lucky Luc Robitaille lead them with 125 points, and #99 joined them at mid-season after resting his sore back to turn it up and take them to the cup final!  Kelly Hrudey was solid between the pipes, the offence was paced by the likes of Kurri, Granato, Sandstrom, and a stellar young D corps featuring Blake, Zhitnik, Sydor plus wily vets Chuck Huddy and Marty McSorley patrolled the blue line. These Kings went all the way to the finals before losing out to Patrick Roy and the Habs - the last time a team north of the border hoisted the cup!

In period two, we start by talkin' trades - Rasmus heads to the desert to join the Knights in Vegas, while Kiefer Sherwood takes his 5030 to the Bay Area to join up with an upstart young Sharks squad.  With an extended break on tap for the Olympics, could this early movement be a sign of things to come?  Could the Breadman be on the move, and who will the Canucks ship out next?

Speaking of the Olympics, players from all nations are dropping like flies, which means that call ups are in store - will Schieff the Knife get his long overdue call with Brayden Point on the shelf?

Finally, in period three, co-host Jared tells us about his big goal from the weekend, the fellas rip into some more ProSet packs and we play some great music, new and old, always!

You're favourite co-hosts are back and they've got a special guest this week!

First up though, we're talkin' Hawks, as in the 2012-13 Chicago Blackhawks who were a bit of a wagon! In a strike shortened season, this squad won their second of three Cups in a six year period!  They were a bit of a dynasty as the kids say - lead by a couple of Winnipeg lads, Jonathan Toews and Duncan Keith, plus Patrick Kane, Marian Hossa. Patrick Sharp and Brent Seabrook. 

Plus we pour one out for Mr. Goalie, Glenn Hall who passed away this weekend at the age of 95!  He was the originator of the butterfly, a style used by goaltenders around the world today!  Plus, he once played 502 games in a row, which let's be honest, is unreal.

Then we're joined by friend of the show Dustin Karsin from Bag Skate Hockey Club who tells us about his hockey journey, his commitment to building a better hockey culture and how you can get involved and get some more touches in your game each week!

Plus, we've got a couple of beauty stat lines, Old Bones returns, Fedorov gets his tarp lifted to the rafters and we rip some packs en francais!

Happy New Year - the boys are back at with their first show in 2026, and with a whole extra 30 minutes going forward, you know we're ready to talk some hockey!

First up, we're talkin' about the best team from the NHL Jets 1.0 lore - the 1984-85 squad.  Their high flyin' attack featured the likes of Dale Hawerchuk, Paul MacLean, Thomas Steen, Brian Mullen, Laurie Boschman and Dougie Smail who twinkled the twine at least 30 times! They had a steady d-core featuring Dave Babych, Randy Carlyle, Tim Watters and a young Dave Ellett - plus 'tendy Brian Hayward between the pipes!  This squad was one of only two to advance to the second round of the playoffs, where their chances took a major hit courtesy of a Jamie Macoun cross check that broke Ducky's ribs and basically ended any chance of beating the juggernaut from Edmonton!  It's sure nice to play what if though....

In the second, we've got the current incarnation of your Jets finding new ways to lose what seems to be all the games, ol' Chevy's going round and round with his words, but he's just not saying much, all while the season slips further and further towards the basement.  

Team Canada's WJHC championship hopes get Czech'ed into the boards once again and we'll go over a top 10 list of the biggest 2026 Olympic roster snubs to date!

All this, and a hat trick of stat lines to start the season, plus we unleash the brand new Pro Set pack attack! 

It's our final episode for 2025, so we've got 2 plus hours of hockey talk for all you beauties out there!

We'll start off talkin' about the 2007-08 Penguins, who were captained by a 19 year old Sidney Crosby - maybe you've heard of him! He lead the Pens to the cusp of Lord Stanley for the first time, joined by the young core of Malkin, LeTang and Fleury and some old dogs like Roberts, Gonchar, Sydor and Sykora.  Though the lost out in 6 to the Red Wings, it was only a taste of what was yet to com!

In the extended second, we're talkin' World Junior's, we try and fix the Jets and then make some Olympic team predictions - so many questions, too many answers, who knows what's yet to come!

And in the third, we've got lists o' plenty - some of our favourites from 2025. Plus we play some of our favourite tracks from the year that was!

Earlier this season in episode 3, we talked about their hated rivals, the Buffalo Sabres, but this week we're talking about perhaps the greatest team to come out of the nation's capital in the modern age, the 2006-07 Ottawa Senators!  Lead by the "Pizza Line" (or CA$H Line) of Heatley, Spezza and Alfredsson, this high-flying squad made it all the way to the Cup final before falling to the Ducks in 5 games.  They featured "Razor" Ray Emery who battled all-comers between the pipes and had a steady D-core of Redden, Phillips, Corvo, Preissing and Mezaros in from of him locking it down.  A real fun squad that you need to know about!

In period two, two MAJOR trades to discuss as Quinn Hughes heads south to State of Hockey to join the Wild, while the Pens and Oilers shuffle up deck chairs as Tristan Jarry joins the Blue and Orange, and Stu Skinner takes that sweet 'stache to Steeltown.  Plus ol' Helly is back and could provide a major, and much needed, jolt to your Winnipeg Jets.

In period three, we complete our respective squads of the Score Pack Attack and it looks like co-host Jared's in tough as he looks for a solid right winger to fill out his squad!

Depending on who you talk to, the 1981-82 Vancouver Canucks sported either the best, or perhaps the worst, jerseys of all time!  The classic flying V was certainly something and was donned by "King" Richard Brodeur between the pipes and a balanced international attack lead by the likes of Gradin, Fraser, Boldirev, Hlinka, Rota, Snepsts, and newly appointed captain Stan Smyl, plus legendary enforcer Tiger Williams, this team - lead by interim coach Roger "Captain Video" Neilsen went on a post-season heater that carried them to Lord Stanley's precipice, before succumbing the dynasty Islanders in four straight. 

In period two, the hot stove heats up as the Quinn Hughes trade talk just won't stop - will he head to the Garden State to join his brothers, or will Stevie Y swoop in to bring him back to Michigan!  Plus we get the buzz on Stamkos, Sherwood and wonder if the Oilers will finally go get a goalie!

In period 3, we're back to rippin' packs as we wind down our second team selections next week!

Your favourite co-hosts kick off their annual season of giving for you the lucky listener tonight, with the first of five December episodes!  We're talking about the 1987-88 Edmonton Oilers, the final squad in that era of the great dynasty before ol' 99 caught the last train for the coast.  It was certainly a year of transition,  as both Paul Coffey and Andy Moog preceded Wayner out of town.  They only lost 2 games during the playoff run, but thanks to the "Blackout In Beantown" they ended up playing 19 games.  Amazing squad full of some of the all-time greats!

In the  second, we go coast to coast to check in with each of the 7 squads north of the border.  Lemme tell ya, it's been a pretty bleak month of November.  We also tell you to head over to @sportscc78 for the finest in feathery mullet needs.

In the third, we'll tell you about the first ever Garage League Talkin' Hockey Teammate of the Month, ol' Handsome Tommy Kroeker!  Plus we've got the latest installment of our Score Six Pack Attack!

Your favourite co-hosts are back to talk about one of the greatest teams ever, maybe the best in our era, the 2001-2002 Detroit Red Wings!  This stacked lineup featured 10 future Hall of Fame players, the infamous "Grind Line" and was coached by perhaps the greatest of all time, Mr. Scotty Bowman.  It's no surprise that they dominated the league, winning their 3rd President's Trophy and avenging an upset loss to the LA Kings in the first round the year before.  Their conference final vs the Colorado Avalanche put an exclamation point on one of the greatest modern rivalries in NHL history, going 7 games in one of the best series of all time!

In the second, we discuss your Jets news of the day, as all-world goalie Connor Hellybuyck hits the shelf for 4-6 weeks post knee surgery.  Can Eric Comrie fill those big pads in the interim or will Thomas Milic seize his first real pro opportunity?  Does Helly still suit up to rule the crease for Team USA, and will the Jets trade for a stopgap solution - inquiring minds want to know!  Plus we talk contract terminations, ol' Mikko is gooning it up and ol' Tommy has a new segment cooked up that we're sure you're going to enjoy!

Babych brothers and the steady Mike Luit between the pipes!  The dispatched the division winning Nordiques in three straight, the only playoff series victory in franchise history, before losing to the Habs in the Adams final in 7 games.

In period two we talk about the suddenly inconsistent Winnipeg Jets, talk about the injury bug that seems to be biting everyone and dip our toes into international waters with a little Team Canada chatter.

In the third, we've got a brand new sponsored segment for ya, plus another Score pack attack, and maybe a GLH update for you if you play your cards right!

There's a chill in the air to be sure, not sure if it's because the temps are dipping and the darkness comes early these days or if it's because your favourite co-hosts are talkin' Leafs!  That's right, we've got the 1966-67 Toronto Maple Leafs on the slate tonight, the last Toronto squad to hoist Lord Stanley.  Lead by legends like Ron Ellis, Dave Keon, Frank Mahovlich, George Armstrong, Red Kelly and donut pitchman Tim Horton, with Johnny Bower and Terry Sawchuk between the pipes and the great Punch Imlach behind the bench, this squad vanquished the hated Habs in six games!

Then we talk about the surge of youthful exuberance in the league as the Habs and Ducks are on heaters and names like Celebrini and Bedard are near the top of the points race.  It's refreshing ain't it?  Also, the your Winnipeg Jets go oh-fer California and the squad down in St. Louis is singing the Blues!

In period three, we've got a huge PWHL announcement and we kick off a new team in our Score Six Pack attack!  All this and trio of great Canadian tunes, eh!

After a weekend of Halloween shenanigans, hockey related and otherwise, plus too many mini-chocolate bars, your favourite co-hosts are back at the boards!

First up we're talking about 1988-89 Calgary Flames, a stalwart squad of vets and young bucks that their second consecutive President's Cup and finally got to drink from their first Lord Stanley!  Featuring the likes of Mt. Rushmore mustachioed legend Lanny MacDonald, big Al MacInnis, Gary Suter, Joe Nieuwendyk, show fav Joe Mullen, Dougie Gilmour, Hakan Loob and the steady 'tendy tandem of Mike Vernon and Rick Wamsley - the Flames were a formidable force that defeated the Montreal Canadians in the last all Canadian final!

In the second frame, we're joined by the Admin from the great instagram site CANADA.GOV.CA to talk hockey, Canadiana, East Coast livin' and a noted NHL'er that he faced off against playing minor hockey!

Finally, Tommy was down at Canada Life again over the weekend, taking in a matinee with Danny Margarita and he's got the full rink report from a great Jet's win!  And we play the final card in our first six pack attack, rounding out our first squad - will co-host Jared find his goalie and will co-host Tom finally get some scoring up front?  Hard to say, but tune in and find out!

First up, we'll tell you about 1990-91 Minnesota North Stars!  Decked out in the classic green, gold and white uni's this team of underachievers got hot at the right time and went on an improbable march to the cup final, finally losing in 6 to the Mario Lemieux led Pittsburgh Penguins!  They finished the regular season 4th in the Norris, 12 games below the .500 mark.  Lead by franchise legends Neal Broten, Dave Gagner, Brian Bellows and Bobby Smith, plus a young Mike Modano and show favs Brian Propp and Dougie Smail, they went on a run that saw them dispatch Chicago and St. Louis - teams that bested them by more than 40 points in the regular season!  Don't forget Jon Casey and his sick kit between the pipes!

In the second frame, we're all of the place - talkin' jersey politics,  ideal lineups, seasonal surprises and disappointments to date. Plus, Tommy goes to the rink and he's got a report!

Finally in the third, all GLH teams now finally have names - and we played in a real barn burner this past Saturday eve that gave all the fans their money's worth!  Plus, it's week 5 for line 1 of our Score Pack Attack!

Holy smokes, do we have an action packed episode for you!

First, we tell you all about one of the most legendary teams in hockey history, the 1974-75 Philadelphia Flyers!  Known as the Broadstreet Bullies for their physically imposing brand of play, the Orange and Black attack was lead on the stats sheet by the fearsome foursome of Hart Trophy winner Bobby Clarke, Reggie Leach, Rick MacLeish and Bill Barber, whose skills to matched their teammates favour for hard-nosed play, including Dave "The Hammer" Schultz who still holds the NHL record for PIMS in a season with 472!!!  The real backbone of the team was all-time 'tendy Bernie Parent who recorded 12 shutouts on his way to back to back Vezina and Conn Smythe trophies!

In the second, we go coast to coast like ol' Rex Murphy, checking in with the 7 Canadian teams to find out who's hot, who's not and who appears to have a little work to do!  We love the Jets (of course), scratch our heads at the Oilers and Leafs and are hopeful the Habs and Sens!

Finally in the third, we've got a GHL update - 3 of 4 teams now have names, so get on it Team 4!  Tommy tells tales from the timekeepers box and we've got our weekly pack attack!

Hey there hockey fans, we're back on your airwaves ready to tell ya all about the 2006-07 Buffalo Sabres!  Nowadays, they're probably most famous for being the first squad to don the vaunted Buffaslug jerseys, but back then they were a pretty skilled team, taking home the President's Trophy with 113 points.  The team had a stellar tendy with Sabre's legend Ryan Miller between the pipes and boasted a balanced attack featuring 6 (!!!) twenty goal scorers.  Ultimately, as things often do for the PC Cup winner, the season ended in disappointment as they lost to Cup finalist Ottawa in 5 games.

In period two, we'll tell you what we're thankful for holiday wise, give you our predictions for the first coach to be fired, debut a brand new Stat Line of The Week Jingle and talk more big signings and Jet's player movement - is that action packed or what?!?

Finally in period three, we've got a GLH update for you - not only does our squad have a name, but we notched our first win as well, and your favourite co-hosts put some points on the board!  And we've got another instalment of our Score '91 pack attack as our top 6 rosters gain their third players!

We're here again, hitting the ice hard on all Hockey's Eve - that's right kids, tomorrow it's like Christmas morning for all the puck pals out there as the NHL officially kicks off season number 109!  

We've got lots to talk about, but first we need to follow up last week's historic Habs chat by telling you all about the talented, albeit pretty awful 1991-92 Quebec Nordiques.  This squad holds a soft spot for co-host Jared and featured a trio of excellent young guns - Joe Sakic, Mats Sundin and Owen Nolan.  Les Nords figured that they would add young phenom du jour Eric Lindros, but ol' #88 sat the year out as he had no desire to lace 'em up in La Belle Province.  He was shipped out the following summer for a king's ransom that helped the team turn their fortunes.  As was the case with a lot of the Quebec squads of the time, they were horrible between the pipes!  1991-92 was no different as four tendys, including the mighty Tugnutts combined to win 20 games - none won more than 7 games on the season.

In the second, we've got a whirlwind season preview for you - including predictions on divisional winners, award winners and maybe even a cup winner to boot!  We talk about the flurry of big contract signings, including the record bag for Kiril The Thrill.  How will this shape things going forward - we even put on a pair of Chevy's slacks and discuss KFC's pending raise.

That's right the boys are back for Season 8 and we've a few new wrinkles to bring for all you fine listeners out there - first off, instead of players each week, we'll be devoting a deep dive to a great (or not so great) team from the NHL past.  And ya know we've gotta kick it off in style and talk about one of the best teams of all time - the 1976-77 Montreal Canadians!  This super squad went 60-8-12 on their way to another cup win, and featured names like Guy Lafleur, Guy Lapointe, Serge Savard, Steve Shutt, Bob Gainey, Larry Robinson, Jacques Lemaire, Yvan Cournoyer and of course the late, great Ken Dryden between the pipes!  They scored the most goals and allowed the least - that's how you get it done!

In period two, we catch you up on your Winnipeg Jets who are currently in the thick of the pre-season!  How is Tazer fitting in?  Who are the new rookies turning heads?  Who is on the roster bubble?  And is KFC gonna get the big bucket and decide to stick around for a while?

In the final frame, we talk about everyone's favourite local Thursday/Saturday skate - the Garage League!  We kick off this coming Saturday night with an action packed double header!

And the Vilardi party is set to continue, as Gabe is locked in for another 6 years, while Morgan Barron has re-upped for two! Now let's get Sammy and KFC locked up and we'll be cookin' with gas!

Hello friends, we hope that you are doing well.

We are back after a couple weeks pause with a new episode, one that we are calling number 2 - The Berg, in memory of our friend and friend of the show, Brendan Berg, who recently passed away in a tragic car accident, which also claimed the life of his partner Olivia Michalczuk and one other person.

Berg was a big blueline beauty, a great teammate to those he played with, and a formidable opponent to those he played against. Off the ice, he was amazing parking lot hang - one of Winnipeg’s absolute finest, simply the best. We love you Brendan, rest in peace.

( Technically this is episode 35 which, when you do the Talkin' Hockey math, would be jersey number 75… we’ll get back to that next week. )

The playoffs are wrapped up, though the Panthers are probably still partying hard, and it seems there's more hockey to talk than ever!

First off, we talk Sergei Kostitsyn - the other half of the brotherly duo (we talked Andrei back in November) who played for both the Habs and the Predators, and became known as much for their off-ice exploits as for their performance at the rink! We also learn why it pays to have good linemates and play junior hockey for the Hunter brothers!

Then we do a quick draft recap - not many surprises as round one went pretty much chalk. As teams jockey for financial position in advance of free agency opening on Tuesday, some old faces - Tavares, Bennett and Benn have already decided that the grass isn't greener - buckle up kids, it's about to get spicy!

With the crowing of this year's champions imminent, the boys are back to talk about a 3-time cup winner, Patric Hornqvist! He won a couple in Pittsburgh, riding shotgun with Sid The Kid and then picked another last year as a scout with the Panthers! He was Mr. Irrelevant in the 2005 entry draft, picked 230th overall, but has outscored everyone in his class save for 5 others - not too bad Hornsy!

Then we talk Stanley Cup finals - just when it seems that the Oil might be close, the Panthers seem to find another gear. Will Lord Stanley stick around for another summer in the sunshine state, or will the long overdue drought north of the border finally come to an end?

Finally, the initial 6 for each squad has been announced for the 2026 Winter Olympic games - who looks strong and who's just happy to be there?

We're talkin' about a real old school beauty on the show today - he of the odd bucket and leapin' celly, #71 (or #17) Mike Foligno! He liked to muck about and plant himself in front of the net and plied his trade for the Wings, the Sabres and the Leafs, with a short stint in his final year with Florida. His sons Nick and Marcus carry on his goal celebration tradition to this day, and both play a similar hard nosed style.

We check in on the Cup finals, which has been quite the tilt so far - Marchy is proving that he's worth his weight in free donairs, while Cool Stu Skinner has been twirling his great 'stache at the competition! We're looking at Game 7 folks, and we haven't even seen game 3 yet!

He may have went first overall in 2012, but he was out of the league 6 years later after bouncing from the Oilers to the Blues and finally to the Avs. He returned to mother Russia and have carved himself out a nice career, still playing today...

And speaking of Russian players who have done okay for themselves, we talk extensively about the Great 8 - the NHL's new all time leading goal scorer, Alex Ovechkin! Ol' Ovi tied Wayner's longstanding accomplishment with 2 against the Blackhawks, and then scored number 895 in a loss against the Islanders while we recorded.

The fellas are back at once again, this week we're talkin' Hagelin, as in Carl Hagelin. This Swedish forward has some supremely sick flow and won a couple of cups playing on Pittsburgh's vaunted HBK line in 2016 and 2017. He also scored 2 power play markers in front of more than 104, 000 fans while at the University of Michigan - so ya know, he's not just a fine head of hair!

Then we talk about this past Friday's Jets-Stars marquee matchup, with an outcome that we saw coming, but the rest of the hockey intelligentsia didn't hold much hope for. We'll tell you what the Jets did right, and break down the rest of the season as we march towards the playoffs!

Finally, we give you a quick Garage League of Hockey playoff update - your Chester's Chickens pecked out a win to stay alive, as cohost Tom ate some pre-game spaghetti and had himself a heckuva performance!

The boys are comin' in hot today, talking about one of the finest power forwards in recent memory, the NASHER - Rick Nash!

He plied his trade for a number of years in Columbus, playing for some really bad teams before moving onto the Big Apple, and then finishing up with a short stint in Beantown. We're firm believers that he probably would've hit the Hall if not for to many hits to the ol' noggin - a career cut short by concussions and other assorted injuries. Always answered the bell for Team Canada too - has half a dozen medals to prove it too! Thanks Nasher, you're a real beauty!

Then we break down a really eventful trade deadline that saw more than 30 trades take place in the month of March alone! Mikko Rantanen's on the move again, Brad Marchand finds a new home that's fond of rats, and your Winnipeg Jets made a couple of slick moves to bring in some cagey vets, including show fav Brandon Tanev! Who won the deadline - we're here to tell ya!

In our final segment, we're here to catch you up on the playoff picture, who's on the cusp and who's fading fast - plus we update you on the the Gr8 Chase, as Ovi gets closer to history!

The lads are back at it with a supersized trade deadline preview episode in honour of the best tendy to don the number 60 - José Théodore! He had some seriously sick flow while patrolling between the pipes for the blanc, bleu et rouge - put up some great stats too and won a Hart, a Vezina and a Masterton for his troubles. He bounced around a bit towards the end, but still had significant stops in Colorado and Washington, before stints in Minnesota and Florida.

Legend has it that notorious hater of fun Harry Sinden refused to let Heinze wear #57 while with Boston, depriving us of an iconic no-brainer - remember kids, it's Heinze and there are no other kinds!

Then we talk about the league wide shut down for the inaugural Four Nations Cup, which kicks off with Canada facing Sweden on February 12th. We talk initial line pairings for Canada and the US, and speculate who's going to carry the weight between the pipes for the mighty maple leaf!

It's rare to see a player like Mikko Rantanen get traded, even rarer to see it happen in season. Did you know that before 1992, no one in the league had worn #54 in a game - Jim Vesey, father of Jimmy, did it first and 73 others have followed in 32 years since! We figure the most notable is a good east boy, pride of Charlottetown - Darth Quaider himself, Mr. Adam McQuaid! He was a good stay at home d-man for Boston, the New York Rangers and Columbus amassing 512 games and winning a cup with the B's in 2010-11.

Then we dissect what's going on in Vancouver as the Canucks seem in some serious disarray - Co-Host Tom puts on GM Patrik Alvin's pants and figured out whose gotta go - J.T. Miller or Elias Pettersson.

Finally, we talk fun stat lines - goals being scored without shots, goalies getting ginos AND apples, and will Eric Comrie ever get some help?

Back at it on chilly Monday with an episode we're calling The Morris, after Derek Morris - a good stay at home defenseman who played 1100 plus games in the league with Calgary, Colorado, Phoenix and the Rangers. He wore the maple leaf a few times, notably winning a gold medal in 2004 at the Hockey World Championships on a team full of real beauties!

Then, we tip our cap to our local tendy - #37 Connor Hellebuyck who just notched career win number 300, to go along with 43 (!!) career shutouts and 500 games played. Are we seeing the best goalie in the world right now in our own backyard? It sure feels like it most nights...

And then it's all about the flow bro, as we talk hockey hair! The greasier and fluffier the better - all this, plus a trio of pop punk bangers from north of the border!

The boys are live in 2025 - our first episode of the new year is a nod to noted stay at home D-man Adam Foote, a two time cup champion and a pillar on some really great Avalanche teams. Did you know he was the last Quebec Nordique standing? Neither did we, but you know, we're all about the learning here on the big show!

We talk about Team Canada World Junior disappointment, again, and look at some steps that the maple leaf might need to take to get back to golden glory. We also talk the Jet's mini-slide into 2025 and talk potential playoff implications for some teams on the bubble - a little early, perhaps, but that's what we do!

And finally we get excited to get back on the ice and talk about our own upcoming beer league adventures...

After a week off to take part in the seasonal merriment, the boys are back to talk a little hockey with an episode we're calling THE CAMPBELL! That's right, we're giving a nod to Brian "Soupy" Campbell, a great offensive d-man who wore #51 for his entire career, which included stops in Buffalo, San Jose, Chicago and Florida. He won a cup, a Lady Byng and we think that makes Soupy superb!

Then we talk World Juniors thus far - Canada is getting good tending, but has yet to find their scoring touch on the eve of a big December 31st matchup against the US! Then we catch up on the Jets, who have been having a festive holiday season and aim to finish 2024 on top of the whole darn league!

In our final segment, co-host Tom puts on Chevy's new boxing day pants and considers what should be done with free agent to be Nikolaj Ehlers, who seems to be heating up!

All this and we play some musical favourites from 2024!

Not a lot of fellas have worn number 50, but 'tendy supreme Corey Crawford certainly stands out as a two-time Stanley Cup and Jennings award winner. He backstopped a few monster Blackhawk teams in the 2010's before his career trailed off and ended prematurely due to concussion issues - he's a real beauty though and we had fun talking about him and his many nicknames!

Then in period two, we fill you in on all of the must haves for your favourite hockey player this holiday season - we're not talking shiny bells and whistles here, we're giving you the essentials. And we spend way too much time talking about stick tape and the best ways to apply it...

And then, it's almost time for another holiday favourite - the World Junior Hockey Championships! The big tourney kicks off with Canada vs Finland in the nation's capital on Boxing Day, and we talk a little bit about this year's squad of fresh faces.

The boys are back with episode 9, number 49, with a nod to a good ol' Sudbury boy - Brian Savage, who wore the number for his entire career which included stops in Montreal, Phoenix, St. Louis and Philadelphia. Word is he's a pretty stellar street hockey player as well!

Then, we're pretty stoked to be joined by local legend Chris “Keener” Dougherty, who's the driving force behind Keener Jerseys. Not only do they outfit the best of the Winnipeg Beer League circuit, but they've expanded operations into working with a number of NHL teams as well! Great conversation with a real class act who takes us behind the sweater so to speak!

Finally, we talk about our own personal jersey Mount Rushmores and talk about the big trade sending Jacob Trouba to the sunshine state!

That's right, one of the greatest goalies of this era, number #39 Dominik Hašek - he was a standout for the Buffalo Sabres and later on, picked up a couple of cups as a member of the Detroit Red Wings. Plus he won 6 Vezina trophies, an Olympic gold medal and collected a whole bunch of other accolades along the way, playing in the show until the age of 43!

He amassed almost 1100 points during his career, played exclusively with the Boston Bruins, but perhaps is known best as the top shut down centre man of is generation, garnering 6 Selke trophies.

Then in a nod to ol' Patrice, we talk about upcoming roster possibilities for the 2025 Team Canada Four Nation's Cup roster - who's in, who's out, who is on the bubble and who should be a lock!

Pack-A-Day habit is the 1990-91 O-Pee-Chee set - we both have some stellar pulls and eat some 30 year old gum.

We're getting into the weird numbers here kids, not gonna lie - our other options today were Mike Eagles and J.J. Daigneault! We think that we made the right pick though going with rugged customer Matthew Barnaby - he caused problems for opposing players during stops in Buffalo, Pittsburgh, Tampa, Colorado, Chicago and Dallas and caused a few problems for himself off the ice!

We spend period two doing a fun little re-draft of the first dozen picks from the 2016 NHL draft - sure Auston still goes #1, but the rest of those first twelve is a bit of a shake up and a fun exercise to be sure. Plus, we predict an old pal to the Jets at #18!

We're back talkin' about a bonafide hockey legend - international superstar Peter Forsberg! The man known as Foppa, or Peter The Great, was an absolute force in international play and still holds the record for World Junior points - both career and in an individual tourney. Sadly his NHL career was hampered by injuries, but he was still part of two cup winning teams in Colorado, and was a key part of one of the league's biggest trades ever!

Then we talk Jets - the boys had been hittin' the snooze on their east coast swing and have dropped three in a row. Time for some home cooking and hopefully a return to form before they hit the home stretch.
