Storm King Art Center Welcome Sequence: Mountainville, New York Storm King Art Center’s 500-acre outdoor museum celebrates large-scale sculpture, site-specific commissions, and groundbreaking temporary exhibitions where contemporary artists create some of their most ambitious works under open sky and in conversation with the natural world. The first Capital Project in Storm King’s 65-year history reorients how visitors encounter art in dialogue with the ever-changing meadows, forests and rivers of the Hudson Valley.

OCTOPIA is a dry octopus activated by eighty users. The volunteers explored social motricity as they became part of a large scale organism. When it was not activated, it remained in sleep mode inside the museum. The organism was activated four times during the exhibition. Prior to its activation, the eighty users partook in stretching and concentration exercises that helped them move as slowly as possible and reach an holistic experience.

A monumental screen in cinema-format made up of thousands of loosely hanging sequins, which reflect light and visualize the movements of the wind. Open Source (Cinemascope) is the first piece in a series of sequin walls depicting different film formats.

Stairwell set in bedrock, submerged in the sea in the World Heritage Höga Kusten, Sweden. The extreme land rise in the area will make the stairwell rise out of the water 8mm per year, each step representing the land rise of a generation.

Zachary also works with a diverse range of materials, video, dance, sound, photography and drawings exploring the notions of human progress in relation to historical ideas, scientific development, digital technology, and the ways in which humans attempt to understand the world around them, using methods such as storytelling, religion, science, or technology.

Guest: Vera Vasek, accomplished American sculptor, grew up with her parents of Eastern European heritage in the sprawling suburbs of Cleveland, Ohio where she explored the densely populated Rocky River Watershed and surrounding landscapes with a fascination for natural elements.

Process: By pulling plaster images off the tidal markings found in the sand produced by the flow of water, the act of documenting these "Tidal Reliefs", as she calls them, has brought her practice to focusing on process with the eventual outcome obtained through physical endurance, observation and chance.

Smoke, was Maarten’s grad­u­a­tion project at the Design Acad­e­my Eind­hoven (NL). It was the result of his research on beau­ty and per­fec­tion. ​“In nature, every­thing is in flux, which cre­ates a cer­tain beau­ty. Yet, it’s a very human ten­den­cy to keep things as they are sup­posed to be and keep them beau­ti­ful as they orig­i­nal­ly were. Smoke plays with both per­cep­tions of beau­ty.”

To cre­ate the clock face of these vibrant art­works, Maarten asked 720 chil­dren to con­tribute a draw­ing of the hands of a clock at a spe­cif­ic time. In total, 720 unique draw­ings edit­ed togeth­er to indi­cate the time across 720 min­utes (12 hours), main­tain­ing each Children’s Clock as a func­tion­ing timepiece.

Stairwell set in bedrock, submerged in the sea in the World Heritage Höga Kusten, Sweden. The extreme land rise in the area will make the stairwell rise out of the water 8mm per year, each step representing the land rise of a generation.

Our guest this evening is Con­rad Sweat­man, pro­duc­er, song­writer, gui­tarist and main engi­neer behind the accom­plished band Blue­bloods here in Win­nipeg. Their debut EP Make It Rain, is a cap­ti­vat­ing blend of Lofi Hip Hop, R&B, house, and jazz.

In April of 2021 when this interview originally aired, they had released the music video for Post­card from a Quar­an­tined Min­er in Flin Flon, an inno­v­a­tive col­lab­o­ra­tion of ani­ma­tion, dance, and theatre.

This month, they have released a new music video for the song entitled Burn Me Down. It features singer Courtney Fox, Sam Little (keyboard solo), Madison Dueck (dancer), Dylan Baillie (cinematographer), João Carvalho (mastering), and Gabriela Ocejo (additional singing), Conrad Sweatman (co-producer, director, editor), and Sally Sweatman (co-producer, assistant director).

January 2017, exhibited in the central Congress Center at the Davos World Economic Forum in Switzerland. More than 500 attendees participated in working on the sculpture while it was on display in Davos.

Image 2 Elephant Bed, Fabrica, Brighton, UK and Whatcom Museum, Bellingham, WA. 2009 – 2010., Each of twenty forms was 6’ dia x 24’h. Made of folded skins of a binderless paper product called Dissolvo, and reinforced with internal ribs of rigid, corn-based plastic. The sculptures were entirely biodegradable.

Dr. Gori and his wife Pina began their con­tem­po­rary art col­lec­tion in the ear­ly 1950s, a col­lec­tion which has grown tremen­dous­ly and includes works of some of the world’s most high­ly acclaimed and inno­v­a­tive artists of the 20^th and 21^stcenturies.
