Start­ing today and run­ning for 9 days at loca­tions all around our city, Thin Air 2018, the Win­nipeg Inter­na­tion­al Writ­ers Fes­ti­val brings book lovers and book writ­ers alike togeth­er for learn­ing, shar­ing and inspiration. 

Fea­tur­ing up-and-com­ing authors, Inter­na­tion­al­ly renowned award-win­ners and more, there’s some­thing for every type of read­er in the diverse sched­ule which can be found here.

On Sat­ur­day, Sep­tem­ber 22nd alone, the sched­ule fea­tures both Unset­tling Our Sto­ries (an effort of lit­er­ary decol­o­niz­ing) and the launch of ndncoun­try! the Voic­es in the Cir­cle project that is the gath­er­ing of new writ­ing by Indige­nous writ­ers from across Cana­da edit­ed by Kathare­na Ver­mette and War­ren Cariou.

Uni­ver­si­ty of Man­i­to­ba’s Cen­tre For Cre­ative Writ­ing and Oral Cul­ture’s fall writer-in-res­i­dence Tris­tan Hugh­es will be appear­ing at the fes­ti­val and was a guest on UMFM’s Your Cam­pus Today and Turn­ing Pages. You can hear him dis­cuss his nov­el Hum­ming­bird on the sta­tion’s Sound­cloud page and look for more inter­views with Thin Air authors through­out the festival.
