Whoop & Hollar Announces 2023 Performer Lineup and New Community Outreach Event!
Whoop & Hollar Folk Festival has announced its 2023 performer lineup, with over 15 musical acts to enjoy this summer.
The 9th annual festival happens on August 26th and 27th in Portage la Prairie and will showcase a fresh, eclectic mix of both emerging and seasoned artists from across Manitoba. Festival-goers can expect to hear a wide range of folk music, as well as other genres like pop, indie rock, country, Latin jazz, and children’s music.
This year, the festival will include a new community outreach event on Sunday, featuring free concerts at the Ukrainian Connection Bandstand in Portage la Prairie’s Island Park. Regular programming, workshops, jam sessions, and tent camping will take place at Cottonwood Acres outside of Portage la Prairie, the main festival site, on Saturday.
“We are thrilled to announce the roster of incredible, local talent for this year’s Whoop & Hollar Folk Festival,” says Festival Artistic Director, Josh Wright. “From Juno Award-nominated, Indigenous supergroup Indian City, to Marco Castillo, Nelson Little, and Madeleine Roger, this year’s lineup represents the best of Manitoba’s thriving music scene.”
Early bird passes for the weekend festival are now available for purchase on the festival website, priced at $40 for adults, $20 for youth aged 13 – 17, and free of charge for children 12 and under.
“We are excited to welcome back music lovers from across Manitoba and beyond to experience the unique atmosphere of Whoop & Hollar,” adds Wright. “With a diverse lineup of performers and the addition of a community outreach event, our planning team is confident that this year’s festival will be a real hoot for people of all ages.”
