We'll See You All At Bird's Hill!
Our friends at the Winnipeg Folk Festival have announced their artist lineup for the 46th edition of this amazing event, running from July 11 to 14 at Birds Hill Provincial Park! featuring some of the finest folk, roots, bluegrass, pop, rock, indie, country and world music artists from around the world. Some of our must see acts at this year’s festival include Kacey Musgraves, Death Cab For Cutie, Alvvays, Charlotte Day Wilson, Julia Jacklin, Steve Gunn, Sarah Shook & The Disarmers, Kathleen Edwards, The Cactus Blossoms, Car Seat Headrest, Haley Heynderickx, Tal National, Courtney Marie Andrews, Cass McCombs, The ReBirth Brass Band, Snail Mail and more!
In addition, a few of our favorite Winnipeg acts will also be joining in the festival fun, including Christine Fellows, The Living Hour, Taylor Janzen, Jesse Matas, William Prince, Roman Clarke and Seanster & The Monsters!
Finally, two special workshops will be presented during the event:
- Icelandic Sounds: Icelandic talent will be at the heart of the festival this summer with acts Snorri Helgason, MAMMÚT, Ylja and FM Belfast. With so many people in our province having deep connections to Iceland, it will be a one-of-a-kind opportunity for festival goers in Manitoba to discover so many artists from Reykjavik through unique workshops and performances over the weekend!
- Pete Seeger’s 100th B‑Day Hootenanny: Folk legend Pete Seeger would be celebrating his 100th birthday this year and the festival will mark the occasion with a “hootenanny” workshop including Seeger’s past collaborator John Cohen of the New Lost City Ramblers, Eli Smith, Jim Kweskin, Jerron “Blind Boy” Paxton and the Steel City Jug Slammers.
We’ve got lots of fun ideas planned for our coverage this year and the Festival Express is set to roll for it’s 5th season of great in depth interviews with many of the amazing acts that are headed to Bird’s Hill!
And once again, we’ll have tickets to give away — be sure to keep your ears to the ground!
