Our friends at the Win­nipeg Folk Fes­ti­val have announced their artist line­up for the 46th edi­tion of this amaz­ing event, run­ning from July 11 to 14 at Birds Hill Provin­cial Park! fea­tur­ing some of the finest folk, roots, blue­grass, pop, rock, indie, coun­try and world music artists from around the world. Some of our must see acts at this year’s fes­ti­val include Kacey Mus­graves, Death Cab For Cutie, Alv­vays, Char­lotte Day Wil­son, Julia Jack­lin, Steve Gunn, Sarah Shook & The Dis­arm­ers, Kath­leen Edwards, The Cac­tus Blos­soms, Car Seat Head­rest, Haley Heyn­d­er­ickx, Tal Nation­al, Court­ney Marie Andrews, Cass McCombs, The ReBirth Brass Band, Snail Mail and more!

In addi­tion, a few of our favorite Win­nipeg acts will also be join­ing in the fes­ti­val fun, includ­ing Chris­tine Fel­lows, The Liv­ing Hour, Tay­lor Janzen, Jesse Matas, William Prince, Roman Clarke and Seanster & The Mon­sters!

Final­ly, two spe­cial work­shops will be pre­sent­ed dur­ing the event:

  • Ice­landic Sounds: Ice­landic tal­ent will be at the heart of the fes­ti­val this sum­mer with acts Snor­ri Hel­ga­son, MAM­MÚT, Ylja and FM Belfast. With so many peo­ple in our province hav­ing deep con­nec­tions to Ice­land, it will be a one-of-a-kind oppor­tu­ni­ty for fes­ti­val goers in Man­i­to­ba to dis­cov­er so many artists from Reyk­javik through unique work­shops and per­for­mances over the weekend!
  • Pete Seeger’s 100th B-Day Hoo­te­nan­ny: Folk leg­end Pete Seeger would be cel­e­brat­ing his 100th birth­day this year and the fes­ti­val will mark the occa­sion with a hoo­te­nan­ny” work­shop includ­ing Seeger’s past col­lab­o­ra­tor John Cohen of the New Lost City Ram­blers, Eli Smith, Jim Kwe­skin, Jer­ron Blind Boy” Pax­ton and the Steel City Jug Slam­mers.

Throw in an amaz­ing selec­tion of food, drinks, and arti­san wares avail­able in the hand­made vil­lage and July 11th can’t come soon enough!

We’ve got lots of fun ideas planned for our cov­er­age this year and the Fes­ti­val Express is set to roll for it’s 5th sea­son of great in depth inter­views with many of the amaz­ing acts that are head­ed to Bird’s Hill!
