TD Winnipeg International Jazz Festival Announces 2011 Line-Up
An outstanding slate of artists is set to perform at the 2011 TD Winnipeg International Jazz Festival. From June 16 – 25, downtown Winnipeg comes alive for more than 10 days of exceptional live music featuring the best local, national and international artists.
Robert Plant and The Band of Joy, the New Gary Burton Quartet, Trombone Shorty and Orleans Avenue, the Robert Glasper Trio, the Dirty Dozen Brass Band, and Juno Award Winners Kellylee Evans and Shad are among the more than seventy performers taking part in this year’s festival!
Meanwhile, at The Pyramid Cabaret, some of UMFM’s favorite acts are set to perform, including indie icons Blonde Redhead, recent Juno Award-winner Shad, the Dirty Dozen Brass Band, legendary hip hop producer Pete Rock, mesmerizing New Orleans duo Quintron & Miss Pussycat and more.
As always, the festival will once again present four days of free music in Old Market Square, as thousands of music fans are expected in The Exchange District for Opening Weekend, June 16 – 19. Each night in the park is loosely themed: Thursday features Latin jazz, Friday has jazz with some rhythm and blues, Saturday features some of Winnipeg’s most popular indie rock talent and Sunday brings the funk with the return of Moses Mayes – an essential annual tradition-along with jazz, fusion, and hip hop.
Tickets, as well as club passes and wristbands, for the TD Winnipeg International Jazz Festival go on sale Wednesday, April 20 at jazzwinnipeg.com, by phone at 989‑4656 and at the Jazz Winnipeg office at 007 – 100 Arthur Street.
