Call The Doctor

I had a chance to talk to Melissa Yuan-Innes a few days ago. Her Fringe show I Am the Most Unfeeling Doctor in the World is adapted from her book of essays about what it’s like working as a doctor in the emergency room. One patient called her the most unfeeling doctor he ever met and that remark made her angry. She turn that remark into a book of essays, and that book turned was later developed into her first play thanks to a play development program at the Ottawa Fringe. Melissa told me that the writing a play was easy (she is an accomplished author) but her acting needed fine tuning and she took acting course via Zoom during the pandemic which helped her improve her delivery.

Bad Weather

Tuesday was the worst possible day for weather — the clouds suggested the threat of rain all day and the rain started around 6 pm and lasted about 3 hours. No doubt the weather greatly hurt attendance all day. The best way to beat the rain is to see several shows at the same venue (or same shopping mall).

Quote of the Day

One of the things we don’t appreciate about war is how dull it is.”
