Mentorship opportunties with Creative Manitoba's Career in the Arts Program
Youth and young adults, ages 19 – 29, can apply now until July 6, 2018 to be mentored in any artistic discipline; in creative, administrative or technical categories. Facilitated by Creative Manitoba, the annual 7 month program is an opportunity to receive mentorship from a recognized professional.
“I feel that my experience with the Creative Manitoba Mentorship Program, and especially, with my mentor was essential to further understanding my field, but also with connecting me with people who are doing interesting things in this community and around the world,” says Mathew Lacosse, visual artist and curator in Winnipeg, mentored by Jenifer Papararo, Director of Plug In Institute of Contemporary Art, 2017 – 18. “I would highly recommend the program.”
“Participants who complete this program are almost unanimous in their praise for the lifechanging effect it has on their career trajectories and professional relationships,” says Mentorship Programs Manager, Jan Skene.
Mentors are also passionate about the program, for their ability to pass on knowledge, skills, resources, and opportunities to their mentee. “The mentorship program was a great opportunity to share my experiences with two amazing up and coming artists. I wish I had access to this program 15 years ago when I was getting started,” says Matt Peters, musician of Royal Canoe and mentor to Janell Berezowski, 2017 – 18.
Participants selected for this program will be required to become Creative Manitoba members at a cost of $15-$20. Mentors receive an honourarium of $2,000.
