Looking for the Lone Ranger
Are you an active listener? Curious about art, and the artists who make it? Someone who likes to explore and discuss what’s going on in Winnipeg?
If you are, UMFM is looking for you!
Free Range Radio is one of UMFM’s flagship programs, dating all the way back to when the station returned to Winnipeg’s airwaves in 1998. Heard nightly from 6:30 to 8pm, this variety show features news, new music, live performances, interviews, upcoming events and more. Each weeknight a different host takes their place behind the microphone, showcasing the best this city has to offer listeners.
Our longtime Tuesday night host recently relocated and we’re looking for someone new to take over the reins and we’re opening up applications to any interested parties. Four finalists will be selected by UMFM’s Programming Committee and after going through the training process, each finalist will have the opportunity to host the show for one month. At the end of the trial period, the Programming Committee will review the performance of all the hosts and determine who will take over as the permanent host of Free Range Radio Tuesday. The Programming Committee will also be considering feedback from listeners who can weigh in on UMFM’s Facebook page, and on Twitter using the hashtag #umfmloneranger
Interested applicants are asked to send a one-page proposal telling us why they should be the new host, as well as details on what their first episode would include. Word or PDF documents can be sent to UMFM’s Program Director, Michael Elves at michael@umfm.com before April 24, 2015.
The finalists will be announced on Friday May 1st and the first broadcast of the trial period will air 6:30pm on Tuesday May 12th.
