Join The 2023 Commuter Challenge Today!

Commuter Challenge is a week long, national event that occurs during National environment week, June 4th through the 10th. The event is coordinated by Green Action Centre in Winnipeg. This challenge encourages participants to choose sustainable modes of transportation, whether they are commuting to work, accessing essential services, or enjoying leisure activities. Every sustainable trip taken helps to cut air pollution, reduce traffic congestion, and lower harmful greenhouse gas emissions. During the Pandemic, the challenge was expanded to include activities outside of commuting. This year, the challenge will be focusing on Commuting once again.
The twentieth annual Challenge is focusing on making changes in small ways by getting active and adapting the way you get around on a day-to-day basis. This year the Challenge is recognizing all trips, not just commuting. Participants can log their kilometers for any active or sustainable trips they take, like walking to the grocery store, biking around the block or trying out new outdoor activities, and so much more, while being entered to win incredible prizes!
The Challenge is the perfect way to reconnect with shared experiences and collective goals, along with some fun and friendly competition. Over the next couple weeks, we’ll be out on the town with a couple main events. On Friday, June 2nd, Green Action Centre will be at the green space in Old Market Square for a Commuter Challenge Launch Party with some lawn games and a chance to win more prizes. Clean Air Day celebrations are happening on June 7th with a main pop-up at the Legislative grounds, near the Osborne Bridge, between 3 – 6PM. We’ll be joined by the Wrench for all things bike. Both events are completely free, and will have some fun free swag, prizes, cold drinks, and activities for attendees to enjoy.
Join the thousands of participants who are taking on the sustainable transportation challenge by getting outside and active by enjoying active and sustainable modes of travel — get moving to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, improve their physical health, and have a chance at winning prizes!
