Harvest Mooners and friends will be heating up the Windsor Hotel Saturday March 23rd to raise money to build three environmentally-friendly cabins in Clearwater Manitoba. The line-up includes pop-rock power duo Cannon Bros. prog-rock/funk/jazz ensemble Mariachi Ghost and the always danceable Mama Cutsworth.

The event is to raise money for Clearwater Cabins, to provide unique accommodation for the participants of the perennial Harvest Moon Festival and July 1st Sports Day. The cabins will also expand the capacity of the Harvest Moon Learning Centre, which offers year round programming including agricultural training, internships, alternative building workshops and ecological design courses.

This project is the result of a long-term relationship between Clearwater, the Harvest Moon Society and the University of Manitoba Faculty of Architecture, which has held a studio program in the community since 2007. This program has provided meaningful experience for students, and helped to cultivate Harvest Moon’s vision of a sustainable and vibrant community in Clearwater. Designed by University of Manitoba architecture students, the cabins will be constructed from locally reclaimed materials in the spring of 2013 with the help of volunteers and community members.

Tickets are $10 in advance at Organic Planet or the Mondragon, or $15 at the door.
