Global Climate Strike Winnipeg!
On September 27th, cities across Canada will join Greta Thunberg’s call for a general strike for the climate. This event is on track to be one of the largest mass mobilizations in human history. Join us as we demand emergency measures of the scale the climate crisis demands, in a manner that supports a just transition for workers and is rooted in the fundamental human rights of Indigenous peoples.
This year in Winnipeg, we are celebrating the 100 year anniversary of the Winnipeg General Strike for better working conditions. We need to use our collective power once more to demand massive system change to protect our future.
There will be a march, speakers, performers, massive art installations and opportunities for group action — all taking place at the Manitoba Legislative Building.
This strike is being spearheaded by MB Youth for Climate Action, a group of young people who began walking out of school in the hundreds once a month to demand climate action. We joined the 1.5 million students globally who marched out of the classroom, to raise our voices together and ask the adults: why won’t you protect us from the climate crisis?
Now we are asking you: will you join us as we fight for our future?
