As a char­i­ta­ble, not-for-prof­it, cul­tur­al orga­ni­za­tion, GIFF has always depend­ed on the gen­eros­i­ty of our diverse team of vol­un­teers. We are grate­ful for the con­sid­er­able con­tri­bu­tions made by our vol­un­teers every year and know that we could not launch this Fes­ti­val with­out their ded­i­ca­tion and support.

Vol­un­teers donate their valu­able time to help make the Gim­li Inter­na­tion­al Film Fes­ti­val a thriv­ing envi­ron­ment for film­mak­ers to share their sto­ries. The Fes­ti­val runs on sup­port by peo­ple like you! Vol­un­teers touch every aspect of the Fes­ti­val from pre-event set-up to check­ing-in tick­ets. Vol­un­teer shifts start in July 2023 when the GIFF Box Office opens.

Vol­un­teers will be involved in:

• Pre-event set-up
• Site Man­age­ment
• Box Office
• Guest Ser­vices
• Hos­pi­tal­i­ty
• Venue Oper­a­tions
• Event tear down
• Trans­porta­tion
• and More!

For a min­i­mum of 12 hours of vol­un­teer work, vol­un­teers are pro­vid­ed with the following: 

• One GIFF Vol­un­teer Film Pass (Vol­un­teers are asked to please pri­or­i­tize pay­ing cus­tomers over their own entry to films)
• Vol­un­teer T‑shirt
• Dis­count on oth­er fes­ti­val merchandise
  
• Deli­cious, nutri­tious food and bev­er­ages pro­vid­ed dur­ing your shifts 
  
• Invi­ta­tions to the VIP Open­ing Recep­tion and the Sat­ur­day evening Awards Reception
• Invi­ta­tion to the Vol­un­teer Appre­ci­a­tion Pan­cake Break­fast on the Sun­day of the festival
• Meet film­mak­ers, patrons of the fes­ti­val, and oth­er great volunteers 
• Knowl­edge that you are con­tribut­ing to one of Manitoba’s most unique sum­mer experiences
• Oth­er spe­cial perks to be announced

Impor­tant dates:

• July 1^st: GIFF Box Office opens (Box Office is open every week­end lead­ing up to the Festival)
• July 25: GIFF Box Office opens full-time for the Festival
• July 26 – 30: 2023 Gim­li Inter­na­tion­al Film Festival

We are look­ing for peo­ple with a vari­ety of abil­i­ties and skill sets! If you have some­thing to con­tribute, we’ll use you! And if you know of any­one who is phys­i­cal­ly fit and capa­ble of more phys­i­cal types of tasks, please refer them! For every suc­cess­ful refer­ral, you’ll get a free piece of fes­ti­val merchandise!

The fes­ti­val is com­mit­ted to cre­at­ing a safe and respon­si­ble envi­ron­ment for all vol­un­teers and is active­ly work­ing on devel­op­ing a com­pre­hen­sive plan when it comes to COVID-19 and it’s vari­ants. As the sit­u­a­tion evolves, we intend to be adap­tive and respond as nec­es­sary to ensure that all patrons of the fes­ti­val: vol­un­teers, guests, film­mak­ers and staff alike, all can feel com­fort­able around one anoth­er and with­in the festival’s indoor spaces.
