On Sat­ur­day, Novem­ber 16th, 2019, DD focuss­es on top­i­cal dis­cus­sions includ­ing WRIT­ING WHILE BLACK IN CAN­LIT with writ­ers playwright/​broadcaster Aman­da Par­ris (win­ner of the Gov­er­nor Gen­er­al Award for Dra­ma), writer/​academic Arthur Anyadu­ba and poet Chimwemwe Undi. VUL­NER­A­BIL­I­TY IN THE PUB­LIC SPACE as writ­ers and thinkers to join us for an in-depth con­ver­sa­tion about the pos­si­bil­i­ties and pit­falls and pub­lic dia­logue and free­dom of expres­sion – at what cost to whom?

On-stage author inter­views include ZALI­KA REID-BEN­TA whose June 2019 debut nov­el Fry­ing Plan­tain was long-list for the Giller Prize and made Top 10 lists across the coun­try, and writer/​scholar/​researcher NOR­MA DUN­NING, win­ner of the Danu­ta Gleed Lit­er­ary Award for her short-sto­ry col­lec­tion Annie Muk­tuk and Oth­er Stories.
