  • North Graffiti

Local quartet North Graffiti have more than a full album’s worth of songs in the can, but only two singles out so far. Here’s a chance to hear more from a band who take inspiration from the likes of The Clash and The Gaslight Anthem in advance of their September 7th show at The Good Will.

  • Velodrome

Local trio Velodrome slayed a quartet of riff-heavy tracks with our man Dobbs. Their new EP Creatural is available now on Bandcamp.

  • Dendrons

Chicago noise-pop / psych trio Dendrons stopped by UMFM while on a mid-west / Prairie tour that saw them play at Club St. B while in town and recorded some exclusive mixes with our man Dobbs.

  • Bloom

Originally from Selkirk, but now based in Hamilton, Bloom rolled through Winnipeg while on tour and made time for a stop at UMFM’s live room to lay down a four-song set before heading out to Rainbow Trout.

  • Suburban Hypocrites

Local quartet Suburban Hypocrites came in to do a mammoth seven song session with our buddy Dobbs. You can catch the band on September 17th at the Windsor when they open for Montréal band The Peelers.

And be sure to check out their new album, Crowd Pleasers For Mouth Breathers.

  • Mahogany Frog

Originally recorded and aired as part of UMFM’s Road To Sled series featuring local acts headed to Calgary to play the Sled Island festival, this is an exclusive, scorching set with longtime Winnipeg instrumental quartet Mahogany Frog.

  • JayWood

Recorded as part of UMFM’s Road To Sled series, this live session and interview with Jeremy Haywood Smith — aka JayWood — originally aired on Hllyh!Wpg! with producer/host David Dobbs.

  • The Leftists

In advance of the album release for their debut record Demonstrate!”, the Leftists joined the wizard Dobbs for a great four song session! We’ve certainly enjoyed their work in longtime scene favorites the Bonaduces, Burnthe8track and Sundoz and were blown away for this excellent new material. Don’t miss them this Friday night at the Handsome Daughter alongside North Graffiti and Screaming At Traffic — get there early, it’s guaranteed to sell out kids!
