First Annual Winipeg Crankie Festival

Bring­ing a 19th cen­tu­ry art form to 2018, the First Annu­al Win­nipeg Crankie Fes­ti­val runs Sep­tem­ber 21st through 23rd at Cres­cent Fort Ruge Unit­ed Church. The fore­run­ner to mod­ern-day film, Crankies com­bine music, spo­ken word and visu­al arts into a sin­gu­lar form that has expe­ri­enced a resur­gence thanks to the likes of fes­ti­val per­form­ers Anna & Eliz­a­beth, a Vir­ginia duo signed to Smith­son­ian Folk­ways, as well as Appalachi­an musi­cian Sue Truman.

This three day fes­ti­val fea­tures fam­i­ly-friend­ly inter­ac­tive ses­sions, work­shops and per­for­mances from locals Romi Mayes, Jess Reimer, Del Bar­ber and more.
