Alex­is Normand’s music in French and Eng­lish has been rec­og­nized across Cana­da to crit­i­cal acclaim. Draw­ing inspi­ra­tion from the infi­nite hori­zons of her Saskatchewan home, she explores the dual­i­ties of a fran­coph­o­ne iden­ti­ty on anglo­phone soil. For­mer­ly of the inter­na­tion­al­ly-tour­ing trio, Rosie & the Riv­et­ers, Alex­is now uses her vel­vety voice as the cen­ter­piece of a can­did approach to the con­tem­po­rary folk world that suits her so well.

Burnstick’s folk music is brim­ming with the kind of chem­istry that could only come from a hus­band and wife. Nadia, a Fran­coph­o­ne-Métis singer-song­writer, and Jason, a Plains-Cree gui­tarist, blend their voic­es to push the bound­aries of con­tem­po­rary folk music as they weave togeth­er the unique sounds of Weis­senborns with intrigu­ing vocal har­monies. Their wit­ty ban­ter and delight­ful sto­ries cre­ate mag­ic as they com­mand the stage with their telling performances.
