The First Annual Winnipeg Crankie Festival

Tickets are on sale NOW for the First Annual Winnipeg Crankie Festival, which takes place at Crescent Fort Rouge United Church, September 21-23. The festival will benefit Home Routes FolkSchool, a new educational project that is part of the Winnipeg-based Home Routes house concert network.
The Festival will be an collaborative festival experience by introducing “Crankies.” a 19th century storytelling art form, a forerunner of modern-day film.
Friday, Saturday and Sunday evening acts include The Small Glories;
Saturday and Sunday workshops occur from 10:00am to 6pm, and include Home Routes FolkSchool classes, in guitar ,fiddle, banjo, vocal styling, ukulele, percussion, and more… A jam Room, and The Crankie Workshop Theatre which will host Crankie Making, as well as feature musical performances, all for only $5 for the whole weekend.
